Water drilling
The spring is located in the foothills of the White Mountains at an altitude of 85m. The aquifer of the spring extends to 150-180m underground and the water is drawn from 50m deep.
Hydro-geological studies have shown that the aquifer is surrounded by limestone formations that do not allow the inflow of any other water through their mass. Therefore, the spring water is protected from any surface water and hence from any potential pollution.
The specific geological conditions of the area are depicted in the geological map of Chania, created by the Institute of Geological and Mineral Research.
Based on the official chemical and microbiological analyses conducted on the water by accredited laboratories throughout the year, it is clearly proven by the consistently low values on NO2 and NO3 that the aquifer is unaffected by any human intervention.
The water is characterized by its low salt content and its low sodium content, which renders it suitable for a low-sodium diet.
